Day two round-ups:

The presence of the prime minister’s wife, Sarah Brown, didn’t go unnoticed by Samantha Payne; her exquisite, balletic creation with jigsaw piece embellishments came paired with a plastic poesy, handed to Mrs Brown from the catwalk.

Somerset college:

GFW catwalk: Somerset College

Samantha Payne: a mention for this one dress collection - a trapeze mini dress of fragile layers of lace created by laser cutting and print, a perfect rushed bride, the model presented a bouquet to PM's wife, Sarah Brown at the end of the show. Nice touch.

Graduate Fashion Week

Here is one of my short lasered wedding dresses going down last at Graduate Fashion Week 2008. I also laser cut the flowers out of crushed organza and foiled the tights and shoes. The flowers were presented to Sarah Brown (prime ministers wife) at the end of the show.

My coat and floor length wedding dress were on the college stand. Whereas my coat was the only garment to go to New Designers with all my samples.

Floor Length Wedding Dress

I made this floor length wedding dress out of supreme duchesse satin and laser cut crushed organza. This fragile dress crumbles at your finger tips.

Laser Cut Coat

Here I have engraved my repeat pattern onto the wool pattern pieces before sewing them together. Then I have hand sewn more laser cut patches on top of the engraved pattern.

Short wedding dresses

These two wedding dresses are made from satin and crushed silk organza. The above wedding dress has a printed foil pattern with laser cutting over the top. The fabric has been sewn onto a boned sating corset.

The wedding dress below is made up of alternate layers. One is foiled crushed organza then the next is bonded laser cutting.

Laser Cut Samples

I based these laser cut samples around Italian architecture. I looked at the harsh, geometric buildings in Venice and compared them to the overgrown buildings in Verona.

The samples above and below are a section of the gate from the amphitheatre in Verona.

The image below was cut three times on different settings on the laser cutter and then I have placed then on top of each other creating depth.

These next two images is a repeat pattern inspired by a well in Venice. The above image is a paper sample, clear and crips. Whereas the one below is layered organza which has tangled and frayed beyond recognition.

The image below is a section of the top image in repeat on paper.

The same pattern on a larger scale in organic silk.

The last sample is a combination of foil printing with laser cutting over the top on crushed silk organza.

New York Print

This screen printed design is based around the New York TV series Ugly Betty.

To create this image I have conbined screen printing with gold foiling and slightly off set them to create a unique border, with an uneven edge.

I then placed this border on the edge of a small summer strap dress that flares from the bust, with laser cut squares showing the brown lining.
